US conservative activist Charlie Kirk has died after being been shot at a campus event in Utah, President Donald Trump has said.
Kirk, an influential ally of the president, was known for holding open-air debates on campuses across the country.
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
A suspect was taken into custody but later released.
