Toxic foam has covered large parts of the Yamuna River in New Delhi, a crucial water source for the city and a river considered sacred by Hindus.
According to the city’s independent Pollution Control Committee, human waste levels in the river have risen to over 30 times the safe limit. Critics say the government’s efforts to tackle the pollution are falling short, raising urgent concerns for both public health and the environment.
