Hundreds of thousands of Filipino workers across the Middle East are seeking evacuation as regional conflict intensifies. A Filipina caregiver in Israel was among the first casualties, killed by shrapnel whilst helping her patient reach safety. Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. says evacuation teams are on standby, but authorities warn charter flights and land routes remain too dangerous through active combat zones. More than 24 million migrant workers from South and Southeast Asia are now in harm’s way across the region.
Al Jazeera’s Barnaby Lo reports from Manila, Philippines.
